The Garden Parkway is one of up to nine proposed toll roads in the state under the purview of the North Carolina Turnpike Authority to study, plan, develop and undertake preliminary design work. The project is a new location roadway from I-85 west of Gastonia in Gaston County to I-485 at NC 160 in Mecklenburg County.

Purpose

• Improve mobility, access, and connectivity in southern Gaston County between southern Gaston County and Mecklenburg County.
• Improve traffic flow on the sections of I-85, US 29-74, and US 321 in the project study area.
• Improve high-speed, safe, reliable regional travel service along the I-85 corridor.
